Are wolves allowed? No. Wolfdogs are acceptable, but to an extent. This is a street dog rpg. Not a wolf rpg. If you know anything about wolfdogs, they are NOTHING like dogs. If you want to roleplay a wolfdog, you must have a reasonable explanation for ending up in the city. Low and mid content wolfdogs are perfectly fine, but I prefer that no one plays high content wolfdogs. You cannot have a parent who was 100% wolf. I used to own a wolfdog (she was Husky / Wolf x Wolf). Domestic dogs like Huskies and German Shepherds do not go out into the wild and breed with wild wolves. A wild wolf would kill a domestic dog. All wolf parents must be in captivity. Not wild.
How do I create my own pack? First you must recruit at least two dogs interested in forming a pack with you. Then you will use a combined number of 500 points to make your pack official. Don't have enough points? Don't worry! You should gain enough combined points after roleplaying with your future pack mates.
What kind of pack structure is allowed? Instinct packs are loosely structured packs that consist of your average ranks (alpha, beta, subordinates, and omega). The site is not necessarily revolved around the structure of packs and their territories, so they should change frequently as young dogs try to challenge old leaders and things like that.
How many members can a pack consist of? Generally dog packs should be small groups (preferably no more than eight dogs, including the leader) but don't necessarily have to be limited. Some packs may have over fifteen members, while others stay rather small consisting of family or close companions. Usually the offspring move on to find their own pack or to be on their own, while some stick around and wait to take over after their parents.
How do I claim a territory for my pack? Dog packs are more loosely structured than wolf packs, therefore Instinct packs don't necessarily claim territories. Instead, they claim a sub-territory. As you may have noticed, our boards are few and far between. The reason for this is to allow our members to use their imaginations to create sub-territories within an already provided territory. For example, you might say there is a large hollow tree somewhere in Hyde Park that your pack has claimed as their hangout. This is where they get together for pack related things.
Can I challenge a pack leader for his pack? Yes! We don't want Instinct to revolve around packs, but instead the individuals who make up the canine population in this rpg. With that said, packs should change frequently as new dogs challenge alpha's for their packs. Taking over a pack does not always mean the pack members will be loyal to you. In some cases, they may abandoned the pack. However, loyalty comes naturally and some dogs will not break the code of loyalty. Which do you believe in? Instinct or loyalty?
Can my pack take over another pack's sub-territory? Yes! Sub-territories and hangouts can be taken over by rival packs. Even that special place you made up exclusively for your pack mates! But keep in mind, retaliation is also allowed.
What about pack rivalry? Packs can have rivals as well as alliances. It's up to the pack leader and members to decide.
Can my mate and I have pups? For a price. You will need to take a look at the point rewards system. It will require a combined amount of points from both parties in order to have a litter of pups. The more points you put into it, the higher chance of having a large healthy litter of pups. If you only spend the least amount of points, there's a higher chance that you'll have a small litter with potential defects (stillborn, deaf, etc.).
Who will roleplay my pups? If you have a litter of pups but don't want to roleplay each of your offspring, you can have the pups listed as an adoptable character where anyone can take over the character.
If I can't play anymore, what happens to my character? If you go inactive, chances are that your account will be deleted after a certain period of absence. However, if you notify the staff team that you're going to be leaving us, you have the option of listing your character as an adoptable character where anyone can take over your role. This way we don't have to lose your character if he or she is apart of an oncoming storyline.
Can I go from a domestic dog to a feral dog? Yes, you most certainly can! As well as vice versa - feral dogs can become domesticated over time.
Can a domestic dog form a pack? Yes. Domestic dogs can form a pack just like a stray or feral dog. The only problem domestic dogs commonly face is the fact that strays and feral dogs are less likely to take order from a "house pet."
Can a domestic dog join a feral pack? Yes. At some point, the domestic dog will become feral. The same goes for the opposite scenario - a feral dog who accepts a domestic dog as his leader may eventually become domesticated. Most of this depends on how often he or she is in the presence of humans.
